How We Help
Program 1: The Child Sponsorship Program (CSP): It is a 7 year program designed for students from 6th grade to 10th grade in secondary schools (5 years) and Higher Secondary College or equivalent vocational/technical institute (2 years). Especially designed to provide education, food, clothing and health care to the sponsored children in different areas of Bangladesh. Target of this program is to keep the dispossessed children in school, safe from abuse, neglect and forced labor. Individual sponsors donate $135.00 per year for a single child.
Program 2: The Special Sponsorship program (SSP): It is a 6 years program (4 years of Bachelor and 2 years Masters or equivalent), designed to provide financial aid to the selected extremely poor, gifted and talented children who score GPA-4 plus in HSC examination, willing and admitted in to any recognized College/Institution/University to pursue higher education in medicine, engineering, technology, agriculture and any other prospective field. With preapproval from the concerned sponsor, any child who score GPA-3.00 willing and admitted in any recognized College/Institution/University to pursue higher education in other filed may qualify for this program. Individual sponsors donate $310.00 per year for a single child.
Program 3: The Rescue Savor's Future (RSF): It is only designed to help the children of the victims (garments workers) of the collapsed building Rana Plaza at Savor town, Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is a replica program of CSP in nature. Children will receive same benefits as the children in CSP. It is an 8 year program designed for students from 3rd grade to 10th grade. Only Rana Plaza tragedy victims are qualified for this program. Individual sponsors donate $135.00 per year for a single child and this program will help complete Higher Secondary or equivalent level diploma. With preapproval of the respective sponsors, a child may be enrolled in the SSP for higher studies.
Program 4: Family Medical Assistance Program: Family Medical Assistance Program (FMAP) is a pilot program for the distressed mother and children. Currently we are working in collaboration with an Out Patient Health Center managed and run by Faizunnessa Foundation a NGO in Comilla, Bangladesh. It is a limited medical facility where the primary focus is pre and post-natal health care for the mother and child. Primarily this program is targeted to reduce women mortality in rural areas by ensuring prenatal care and providing referrals when any symptom or complicacy is detected. Besides this pre-natal and post-natal care, this facility provides a wide range of services supported by individual donors. Family Medical Assistance Program (FMAP) will be expanded to other areas in future.
The programs of The Optimists are run and implemented by generous donations from individuals and organizations. The projected new and expanded programs will need further assistance. Tax deductible donations from individuals, corporations and foundations will help dispossessed children to dream of a better future for them and their families.
